McGregor Founder's Day Festival
The city of McGregor, TX held their annual Founder's Day Celebration on Historic Main Street on Saturday, September 21. We set up a HOTARC communications display for amateur radio, and operated on 145.15 MHz, near the south end of the back parking lot of the 1st National Bank about 9:00 AM, with the parade starting at 10:00 AM. We had a few folks around to visit our display table during the parade and into the lunch hour.
 A big thanks go out to Wayne KD5SMC, Larry KF5LNT, and Amy KF5PGB, for their contributions in support of HOTARC's McGregor Founder's Day operation.
Even though we did not have a lot of communications work, there was plenty of set up, take down, equipment checking and preparations that took place. Larry deployed his mobile with base station extension antenna. Bob found out that a two wheeled dolly's base will serve in a pinch as a poor man's ground plane in the field.
And thanks also to those who stood by your radios—just in case there was a visitor to our site who accepted an invitation to talk on the radio.
